Which Shooting Jacket is best for you?Purchasing a Camouflage Jacket is like any other purchase it requires a bit of research.
The are a number of factors to rank :-
What sort of land are you going to be shooting?
Does the outer need to be leak proof and storm proof?
What about protection from hard weather?
How much will it be worn?
How is the hood adapted? I?ll go into that later.
Are unusual features required?
Can it permit for unhindered and free movement?
Cost?
After thinking about what you need, the internet can be a easy place to find what's available, check the online surveys, check out the forums and ask, look around to find the average price and to see what offers are available.
Patterning and color will probably need to be a compromise, unless you just hunt one place and for one season of the year, don?t get too hung up on it just use common sense.
Price is always going to be a killer, buy the best you can afford but consider how often is going to be used. The best value idea has a big impact as top price used only once or twice a year isn?t so good but if you hunt a lot then top of the range kit becomes worth it.
From what we have already done it should be relatively easy to pick a few likely candidates.
It gets to be a bit more work now, it's a very good idea to try on clothes before buy them so it's worth finding a local supplier . If there is one get down there and try it on and if you can buy it there. It s up to you; there is a good chance of a saving buying online but I like to support local shops unless they are really ripping me of.
Hoods.
Hoods worry me because they can cause accidents. The adjusters fitted should enable the hood to be pulled snugly to the head. When adjusted the hood should move with your head, i.e. you don t turn inside the hood but move as one unit. This prevents the hood obscuring one of your eyes as you turn look around.
Sizes.
Not problems in a shop in a shop you can just try the jacket on, if one jacket is tight just try on the next one until you feel comfortable just keep trying jackets until you find one you like.
Because of what you want it for it's likely that you will want a bit more room in it than you might otherwise.
If you have to buy online and you don t know the retailer, even by reputation check extra carefully the terms and conditions and the shipping options. Unless the budget is badly beaten down go for recorded deliver or a courier that provides a tracking number.
I don t like too much exposed skin, the bugs really munch down on me, so I d suggest a light camouflage jacket or a camo shirt in hot weather.
